"Anyone who has never made a mistake, has never tried anything new."

In 1982 while stationed in San Diego, California in the Navy I visited my sister's 2nd grade classroom. It was during this visit that I first thought about teaching. I loved the excitement and wonder that the children shared in that classroom.
Upon returning to my hometown of Greenwich Connecticut, I pursued a degree in Accounting from Pace University and then moved to Maine, where I then worked in Wakefield, Massachusetts and Sanford Maine. Although accounting was very fulfilling, my mind would always go back to those days with my sister's second grade classroom. In the spring of 1999, I decided to make the change from accounting to fulfill my dream of teaching. I went back to school to get my Masters in Education with a concentration in Literacy from the University of Southern Maine. In my 17 years teaching in York, Maine, I have had the pleasure of working in 2nd grade, 4th grade, 5th grade and as the technology integrator at Coastal Ridge Elementary School. I am really excited to be fulfilling my desire to really focus on science this year teaching 6th grade. I live in Portland with my wife Vivian, and our two dogs Koda and Chander. I have two daughters Anna who teaches in New York City and Devon who is a yoga teacher in Boise, Idaho. When not teaching I enjoy sailing, playing guitar, scuba diving, reading and just working around the house. |
